Welcome to STOW-ON-THE-WOLD MOTOR CLUB

Live locally? Got an interesting motor? Why not come along to one of our regular meetings/ club events?

THE NEXT STOW MOTOR SHOW IS JULY 11th, 2026 on the QEii FIELD

A message from the chairperson

Welcome to to the end of 2025 – a busy year for Stow Motor Club.

As with all clubs there are a great number of volunteers contributing to the success of the club.  You know who you are, and I offer my thanks for all your support over this year, as well as previous years.

2025 -  Stow Motor Club

The Motor Show Committee has a meeting (virtually) every month, the aim being to bring together a set of like-minded motoring enthusiasts. It’s also used to attract interesting speakers, and is an opportunity to share a low(ish) alcohol beverage.

In case you missed the Speakers in 2025, here they are - in no special order:

Charlie Ross - world renowned auctioneer of classic cars. This talk was courtesy of one of our members who met him at the Retro Mobile Classic Car Show in Paris last January.

Cotswold Motor Hub - Nigel Bowen Easley   talked about the classic car market.

Dawn Bosley  automotive artist  – in addition to giving a presentation about her work as an artist, she held an auction for charity with the winner having a picture of their car hand-drawn by Dawn.

James Walshe, Deputy Editor of Practical Classics - James mainly talked about his 2CV. It turned out that it was bought originally, in 1986, by one of our members.

Skittles Halloween Competition -  where the no expenses spared prize was a packet of Skittles sweets.

Other Events included:

Square Wheels Summer meetings at the Queens Head in Stow-on-The-Wold -organised by a renowned long term SMC member. These events were also very successful in attracting new members.

Trips/Outings:

Overlord Tour - Top of the list was the excellently organised trip which ran from the 21st to the 25th of April. The hotel was excellent and excursions truly moving as we tried to comprehend the scale of Operation Overlord, and appreciate the incredible bravery and sacrifices made for all of us on June the 6th 1944 and afterwards.

Pembleton Motor Company Tour  - One of our members was so impressed that after a test drive he ordered a T24. The colour of this superbly engineered bit of kit is a greatly guarded secret…

Salon Privee Blenheim Palace - I was able to secure some tickets from Renauld Sunglasses. Despite the weather and some dodgy Bentley starting issues, it was great fun to see all the amazing kit on show, although the helicopter would be too big for our garden landing pad…

Woodcote Lotus/Morgan/Caterham and  Silverstone Museum visit - There was particularly strong interest in the new electric Lotuses.

Blackthorn racing:  Where we were treated to a fascinating tour of the workshop and its endurance racing cars by the team principal.

Brio  Lunch and photo shoot  – a great Stow Motor Show sponsor for both 2024 and 2026 Shows.

You can read our 15th newsletter which has details of various members' individual exploits on the newsletter page.

Please note SMC merchandise is now handled by Super Lemon in Bourton-on-the-Water.

Stow Motor Club members have also stepped in to provide wedding cars.

Stow Motor Club aims to support the community and of course local charities.

Earlier in the year a cheque was presented to the Stow-on-the-Wold Primary School.

SMC members were there in great numbers supporting the Rotary Kitebrook Car Show and the Cotswold Festival of Motoring, as well as the Rotary in the Rissingtons Treasure Hunt.

Next year the biannual Stow Motor Show  will be held on July 11th 2026. Preparations are well under way, but we are keen to get sponsorship so please forward any suggestions.

Other events in 2026:

Flanders Tour May 7th-11th -  Deposits are being taken.

Three dates have been booked for Committee meetings and some external speakers.

The first will be Jimmy Wai,  our resident active racing driver, on January 21stSMC member Jimmy started racing in the Caterham Seven Series in 2024 and some of the SMC watched him at Silverstone in 2025. An invitation will be sent out shortly

Also expected is Jamie Falvey, the driver of the Bloodhound for its new land speed record attempt.

Further outings are being planned, to James May’s  pub for one, and more drive-outs, for example to the Ace Café.

Have a happy Xmas, and looking forward to the SMC Xmas party on December 16th
